Stability Ball Obliques

Description

An oblique-focused core exercise where you lie sideways on a stability ball and perform a controlled side-bend crunch to lift your ribcage toward your hip. The ball supports your torso while you train lateral trunk flexion with a full, stable range of motion.

How to perform

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Lie sideways over the stability ball so the ball sits under your side waist/ribs. Plant your feet wide for balance, with the top leg slightly bent and the bottom leg straighter. Put your fingertips lightly at the sides of your head and keep your neck long while you brace your core.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Side-crunch up by pulling your top-side ribs down toward your hip until you reach your highest controlled position. Keep your elbows open and avoid yanking on your head with your hands. Pause briefly, feeling your obliques tighten, while your hips stay steady on the ball.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Lower back down with control until your side is draped over the ball again. Keep your ribs down and your hips from twisting as you descend. Reset your brace at the bottom and repeat for smooth, even reps.
